理学博士，研究方向为海洋生态学，主要从事极地浮游动物生态学研究。先后6次参加中国南极科学考察，围绕南极浮游动物群落结构的年际变动、南极磷虾、桡足类等极地浮游动物优势物种的营养策略、极地浮游动物群落的垂直分布结构及优势种摄食策略、西太平洋浮游动物群落结构及稳定同位素基准、南极磷虾对海洋酸化的行为选择性、南极浮游动物优势类群对生物泵碳通量的贡献等方面开展工作，已经在Limnology and Oceanography, Deep-Sea Res I, Deep-Sea Res II, Polar Biology, Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, Continental Shelf Research, Journal of Marine Systems等海洋生态学国际主流学术期刊发表论文20余篇。入选中科院海洋所“汇泉青年学者”。
